LogMeIn Products
I can't tell you exactly how long I've been using LogMeIn products, but I can't imagine work-life without them. I use LogMeIn Remote Control, Ignition, and Backup almost every day will RAVE about each of them to anyone who will listen.
OK, so I've tested their Hamachi product and wasn't impressed, so unless you're adventurous I'd stay away from that one, but on all the others you simply can't go wrong. They're EASY for beginners, and CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP for home users (you can't get better than free can you? I guess they could pay you?).
About LogMeIn FREE Remote Control:
This is the reason why you're here hopefully because it's the best DEAL and a great tool. This product must be a loss-leader for the LogMeIn people so take advantage of it! Setup an account and install the software on a computer you want remote access to. Then from any other computer in the world, visit LogMeIn and get remote access to your machine. Remember that your computer you want to remote into must be left on and connected to the Internet (but does not have to be signed-in). The remote access is very quick and reliable and there is zero configuration.
My Take on LogMeIn Ignition:
This tool is mainly for users who constantly need to connect to remote machines in their control, and are always connecting from the same computer, out to many other, different, computers. If this fits your scenario, get it, it will save you A LOT of time connecting to machines.
Appropriate Scenarios for LogMeIn Backup:
You would want to use LogMeIn Backup when you have your own off site location to store your data OR when your data is so critical to you that you just can't bear the thought of it sitting in a server somewhere out of your control, however encrypted it might be. (If you don't meet those requirements, try using Carbonite, also very simple to use for beginners.)

ReplyDeleteThe software works well, Ammyy Admin doesn't require installation or specific config, works behind gateways NAT as well as within one LAN.
