I randomly came across the Logitech Touch Mouse app while browsing apps on the iPhone. It basically turns the iPhone into a wireless trackpad with mini-keyboard for controlling the computer. This works really well for example when you hook a laptop up to a big screen TV occasionally and don't want to get up to type or otherwise control the laptop, as was my case. The app is totally FREE and was easy to install and use.
There are two components required.
Install the server component on the machine you want to control: Download that here:

Also install the iPhone app directly on the iPhone by searching apps for "Touch Mouse"
